Laurel joined the Board of Lakeridge Health Whitby Foundation in 2008 and brings with her over 27 years of experience in the financial industry. She is a Licensed Certified Financial Planner, with the Financial Planners Standards Council of Canada and a Licensed Life Underwriter (Level II). Also, in addition to her many years of practical knowledge, she has the Investment Funds of Canada Course, the Canadian Securities Course and the Professional Financial Planner Course, through the Canadian Securities Institute. Laurel is extremely active in the Community of Whitby. She is a past member and Director of the Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise, she has helped with various fundraising events in the community and is the founder of the Women of Whitby (WOW for short), Club 100. Laurel lives in Whitby, with her husband Tom and they have one son, Dennis, who lives in Oshawa. Her pass time is their cottage, on Georgian Bay and their grandchildren. |

Jane Conte graduated from York University with a B.A., and obtained an LL.B. from the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law. She is a member of the Advocates’ Society, The Metropolitan Toronto Lawyers Association, The Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association, The Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Hellenic Canadian Lawyers Association as well as the Whitby Chamber of Commerce. Jane has successfully appeared before The Ontario Court of Appeal, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Canada Pension Plan Review Tribunal and Financial Services Commission of Ontario. Jane’s practice has always focused exclusively on personal injury litigation on behalf of injured persons and their families. She ensures they obtain the results they deserve. Jane volunteers her time giving back to her community by sitting on the Board of Directors as a Co-Chair of the Brain Injury Society of Toronto (BIST) as well as LHWF. |

Robert Fraser is the President and CEO of ProtectIT Data Management, which works through its two divisions – ClubIT and StrategicIT, and is dedicated to serving the business community through unique products and services designed to protect and bring value-added technology support to businesses. Robert Fraser first started his business 5½ years ago and now has built his business into two different divisions to better serve the business community and their IT needs StrategicIT is an IT Management outsourcing firm that works with senior management to improve the value and productivity of technology spending by offering a senior IT specialist to businesses that traditionally wouldn’t have access to an experienced IT manager. ClubIT is a Managed IT Services company which offers products and services to businesses to help them protect and support their Technology investment through proactive services such as: computer/server monitoring, online and onsite technical support, Project Management, web hosting and development, online and onsite backup strategies, Data Recovery, Disaster Recovery Planning and Laptop/PC protection. Robert has worked in IT for over 25 years, starting as a programmer, journeying up the ladder to become Vice President of IT at major corporations. Through it all, Rob’s success can be attributed to a combination of solid technical knowledge and outstanding people skills. Robert knows how to translate the problems and issues of his customers into technology solutions, without ever having to revert to ‘techno-babble’. Robert opened ClubIT as his second company having founded StrategicIT in 2002, a successful IT Management consulting company targeted to small and mid-sized businesses. Robert is currently on the Executive Board for the Whitby Chamber of Commerce as well as sitting on the Board of Directors for The Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise, Lakeridge Health Whitby Foundation and the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame. Robert is a past Board member and Founding Member of the Durham IT Association (dITA). In addition, Robert is Chair of the Government Relations Committee for the Whitby Chamber of Commerce and a Committee Member of the Government Relations for the Markham Board of Trade. Robert is actively involved in both the Whitby Chamber of Commerce and Markham Board of Trade. Robert volunteers many hours of his time to the Chambers and Boards of Trade on behalf of the business. As well, Robert donates many hours to charitable organizations to help them take advantage of technology. Robert is the recipient of the 2006 Volunteer of the Year Award from the Markham Board of Trade. |
Judi Longfield |

The Honourable Judi Longfield has a long history of public and community service. Born in Northern Ontario, she studied Business Administration at Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology and is a graduate from North Bay Teachers College. She taught Geography and History at the intermediate level and Economics, Business, Accounting and Commercial law at the post-secondary level before leaving education to raise her family. Judi was a founding member of the Durham Chapter of Canadian Parents for French, and served as a member of International democratic training teams. She has been an unrelenting advocate on behalf of adult literacy programs. She served as a member of Whitby Council from 1991 to 1997. Judi served as Canadian Chair of the Canada-US Permanent Joint Board of Defence from April 2004 until January 2006. Judi and her husband Alan Longfield, a retired Elementary School Principal, have lived in Whitby for 35 years. Alan is a co-author of several books related to Camp X, and Canada’s World War II History. Alan and Judi have one son, Michael. Judi is currently the Executive Director of the Liberal Party of Canada (Ontario) and is a member of The Whitby Hydro Board. |

Valarie is a recent addition to the Board joining the Foundation in the fall of 2009. Valarie is the owner of seven quick service restaurants in the Toronto area. She has won many awards, including the Community Catalyst Award from Community Living Ontario, for hiring encouraging other companies to hire physically challenged employees. She is the past president of the Rotary Club of Whitby and currently holds the position of an Assistant District Governor of District 7070. As a past accountant for The Tim Horton Children’s Foundation, Valarie continues to support a number of fundraising initiatives with this Foundation. “Volunteering is a great way to connect to the community you live and work in,” says Valarie. “Giving back to your community becomes who and what you are.” |

Kim is a recent addition to the Board joining the Foundation in the fall of 2009. Kim has always believed that volunteering is the key to building a strong and interconnected community. She has been an active volunteer in the Durham community for many years being the lead organizer of the first ever Durham Community Council and the Vice-Chairperson of Anderson Colligate’s School Community Council. The Durham District School Board recognized Kim as the “Volunteer of Distinction” in 2006 for her efforts within the community. She is very excited to become a part of the Lakeridge Health Board and hopes to help spread awareness about the need for having local health care access in Whitby. |

Carol is the Director of Complex Continuing Care, Geriatric and Rehabilitation Services for Lakeridge Health and the Site Co-ordinator for Lakeridge Health Whitby. Carol has held numerous positions at a number of health organizations over her 20 year careet Carol has been appointed to a number of Provincial and regional committee/working groups including: Carol has been instrumental in the development and integration of geriatric services in Durham Region and is currently the Chairperson for the Regional Geriatric Interest Group and the Advocacy and Communications Committee for the Frail Elderly Alliance of Durham Region.
